Fortnite introduces Bigfoot as a new NPC without any context.

Fortnite’s latest chapter has rolled out a host of new features, from quality-of-life improvements to the exciting ability to take on the role of a boss after defeating one, complete with special powers and the option to summon two NPCs as your bodyguards. However, the newest addition might not alter gameplay significantly, yet it could prove to be one of the most intriguing elements this season: Bigfoot has made his debut in Fortnite.

With the recent update, a Bigfoot NPC has been introduced to the island, but there are some important details to note. First off, this elusive creature is quite rare. According to insider information, Bigfoot can appear anywhere on the map, but if you get too close, he vanishes into thin air. Additionally, he’s immune to damage, so don’t waste your ammo trying to take him down.

This raises the question of why Bigfoot was added without any context. Is it a hint of something bigger to come, or just a fun addition for players? After all, Epic wouldn’t need to create the character from scratch.

Bigfoot has been a skin in Fortnite since chapter nine of the game’s first season back in 2019, making regular appearances, including a recent sighting during Fortnitemares in October.

Finding Bigfoot—who we spotted near Tiptop Terrace, wandering through the woods—is a delightful surprise as the year wraps up, especially with Fortnite Winterfest on the horizon, promising the holiday cosmetics we all look forward to. However, there’s one notable missed opportunity with this addition.

If you’re familiar with Bigfoot, you likely know the famous walk from the Patterson–Gimlin film, which allegedly shows a living sasquatch moving through the forest. While the video hasn’t been definitively debunked, numerous skeptics have raised doubts over the years, and several HD remasters have attempted to prove it’s just someone in a gorilla suit.

Regardless, the Patterson-Gimlin film is one of those iconic recordings that went viral long before the internet, becoming a staple on news programs and various TV shows focused on video clips. This led to the creature’s distinctive walk—where it stomps along and glances back at the camera—being parodied countless times. It even inspired an emote in Fortnite called Sasquatchin’.

So, why doesn’t Bigfoot use that emote while roaming around in the game? It would be the perfect homage to the cryptid’s storied and unverified legacy. There’s still time, Epic! Let’s see Bigfoot bust out that emote.

Keep your eyes peeled for the big, hairy figure. He’s out there, lurking and waiting to cross your path. Just remember, don’t get too close—you might scare him off!
