Megabonk’s Halloween Update Introduces New Map and “CANNED SPAGHETTI” Ahead of Christmas
Forget about Jack Skellington; anonymous developer John Megabonk has just dropped a slightly late Halloween update for their popular roguelike.
“MEGABONK SPOOKY UPDATE IS OUT, just in time for Halloween,” the developer Vedinad announces on Twitter, teasing “CANNED SPAGHETTI WITH EXTRA SAUCE.”
“Go play,” they urge.
This spaghetti sauce is bubbling and rich—an extensive list of patch notes reveals that the Megabonk update is packed with new content, including a crypt map, undead foes, and a playable bedsheet ghost sporting sunglasses.
“I initially planned a small Halloween update, but I decided to expand it, which turned into more work than I expected,” Vedinad shares. “Anyway, hope you enjoy it!” The spooky update also introduces several advanced settings, such as options to skip certain animations or hide Megabonk’s HUD, along with various bug fixes and balance adjustments.
Importantly, the “caveman” exploit, where players could hide in caves to avoid enemy spawns, has been addressed. On a brighter note for those who thrive on chaos, the Halloween update promises “a lot of improvements to FPS late-game.”
“WE ARE SO BACK!!” exclaims Pocketpair community director John “Bucky” Buckley on Twitter.
“we really are bucky from palworld!!” chimes in Mr. Megabonk.
The lead of Palworld and Pocketpair founder expresses admiration for the Megabonk developer, calling them “one of the game developers I respect the most,” as the solo indie creator pulls their roguelike hit from The Game Awards.
