Silent Hill f Dominates at the Horror Game Awards
The Horror Game Awards 2025 kicked off last weekend, on Saturday the 13th, at the Kensington Conference and Events Centre. Co-creators Will Penkeyman and Phil Dickens, along with co-producer Ash Millman, hosted the event, which aimed to honor horror games and the talented developers behind them. This year, one title stood out above the rest: Silent Hill f.
While Silent Hill f didn’t quite sweep the nominations at The Game Awards, where it was recognized in four categories including Best Narrative, it dominated the competition at The Horror Game Awards.
Set in the 1960s in the fictional Japanese village of Ebusigaoka, Konami’s Silent Hill f follows Hinako Shimizu, a high school girl navigating a once-thriving mining town that has fallen into disrepair. The desolate environment mirrors Hinako’s own struggles, as she grapples with being an outcast even among her peers. The arrival of a mysterious fog brings nightmarish events that turn her world upside down.
The game has received acclaim for its art, characters, and storytelling. Critics have noted that it features stunning visuals, with exceptional art direction and character design that blend near-photorealistic detail with a dreamlike quality. The collaboration between Konami, developer NeoBards, and writer Ryukishi07 has resulted in bold and stylistic choices that resonate with players.
Silent Hill f has garnered significant recognition, taking home four awards at The Horror Game Awards: the Technical Achievement Award, Best Narrative Award, Best Performance Award, and the coveted Game of the Year Award.
After a series of Silent Hill titles that didn’t quite resonate with fans, such as Silent Hill HD Collection and Silent Hill Downpour, the success of Silent Hill f has sparked excitement about the future of the franchise and what Konami might have planned next.
