Kirby Air Riders Team to Disband as Developers Implement Final Balance Changes

Kirby Air Riders, the surprise kart racer for the Nintendo Switch 2, has garnered praise for being “everything I could have wanted and more.” However, it’s been announced that the game will receive just one more balance patch before the development team wraps up and disbands. This update comes directly from Masahiro Sakurai, the game director of Air Riders and the mastermind behind the Kirby franchise.

In a post on X, Sakurai stated, “As discussed in Air Riders Direct 2, Kirby Air Riders does not have a production setup for DLC or anything like that. The team will be disbanding in the near future as well. Therefore, while we still have a short period of time to make adjustments, we’re aiming for a balance that can be enjoyed without issues even years from now. We might be able to tweak it one more time or so, but after that, please enjoy it as the completed balance!”

This announcement follows the recent release of version 1.2.0, which included balance adjustments for every kart and one rider.

Before the launch of Kirby Air Riders, Sakurai had already confirmed that there were no plans for DLC, so while the news of limited future updates may be disappointing, it shouldn’t come as a shock to fans.
