PatMen leaves Paper Rex to team up with Global Esports for VCT 2026.

Paper Rex has parted ways with their standout initiator, Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza, following a thorough internal review aimed at optimizing their VALORANT roster for the upcoming VCT 2026.

Rumors about PatMen’s exit from the Masters-winning lineup had been circulating for a while, but the organization has now officially addressed the situation.

In a detailed post on X (formerly Twitter) on December 14, the Singapore-based team explained the reasoning behind this tough decision to let go of a pivotal player.

“As the team has grown stronger over the past few years, so has our commitment to field the best roster possible,” Paper Rex stated. “This decision follows a comprehensive internal review involving our players, coaching staff, and performance team.”

The organization stressed that this was not a hasty choice. “At Paper Rex, roster decisions are never made lightly or in isolation; they reflect a collective assessment of competitive needs, team dynamics, and long-term goals,” the statement continued. “Throughout this process, our priority has been to ensure clarity and care for everyone involved.”

While Paper Rex has yet to announce a replacement for PatMen, the 24-year-old has already joined what appears to be a formidable VCT lineup for 2026. Shortly after the announcement, Global Esports revealed PatMen as a new addition to their roster.

In the last 24 hours, the Indian organization has also signed Kale “autumn” Dunne, Xavier “xavier8k” Juan, and Derrick Yee “Deryeon” Dong Ting. Existing GE players Savva “Kr1stal” Fedorov and Go “Udotan” Kyung-won are expected to remain on the active roster, making this GE lineup the strongest pro VALORANT team since 2023.

PatMen was instrumental for Paper Rex during the VCT 2025 season. Despite being a rookie, he quickly adapted to the team’s aggressive playstyle and contributed significantly during major events, including their victory at Masters Toronto and the Pacific Stage Two.

His remarkable clutches on Fade at Masters Toronto and throughout the season have left a lasting impression on fans. He rightfully earned both Rookie of the Year and Initiator of the Year honors at the VCT Pacific Awards 2025.

As fans come to terms with his departure from Paper Rex, it’s clear that a player of PatMen’s caliber has a bright future ahead.
