Hollow Knight: Switch 2 Edition and Enhancements for Other Platforms Unveiled
Even with the successful launch of Silksong in September, Team Cherry is still focused on the original title that captured players’ hearts. The indie studio has revealed plans for a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Hollow Knight set to release in 2026, along with a performance update for all other platforms. This update will mirror the enhancements made for Silksong’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, featuring high frame rate modes, options for higher resolutions, and various graphical improvements. Players who already own Hollow Knight on Nintendo Switch will receive the Switch 2 Edition at no extra cost upon its release.
To gear up for the Switch 2 upgrade, Hollow Knight will undergo a significant update across all platforms, introducing new features and fixing existing bugs. PC players can get a sneak peek of these upgrades through a new public beta branch available on Steam or GOG. This beta will include official support for Steam Deck and ultrawide monitors, accommodating full 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios. While Team Cherry hasn’t specified a release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition, it is confirmed for sometime in 2026. Additionally, the studio announced a new free expansion for Silksong titled Sea of Sorrow, also slated for a 2026 release. It’s been an eventful year for the Australian indie studio, highlighted by the surprise launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong after a lengthy seven-year development cycle. Silksong earned the title of Best Action Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2025 and was recognized as one of the top 10 games of 2025.
