Dune: Awakening Update Introduces Base Reconstruction Tool, Ensuring Your Home Stays Intact During Breaks from the Survival MMO

The latest update for Dune: Awakening, patch 1.2.30.0, has finally landed, bringing with it some highly anticipated features like the Base Backup Tool and convenient cargo containers for ornithopters, along with a host of other exciting additions, including some free items.

Since its launch in June, Dune: Awakening has faced challenges, including a decline in player numbers and calls for improvements in areas like combat and exploits. However, the developers are actively addressing these concerns with regular updates aimed at fixing the most frustrating issues. A major focus has been on player bases and the risk of losing everything you’ve built.

For those who might not know, taking extended breaks from this survival MMO could lead to losing your base, which is a significant setback. Many players, myself included, have experienced the frustration of losing countless hours of progress due to this issue. Thankfully, the new Base Backup Tool introduced in patch 1.2.30.0 aims to mitigate the risk of future base loss. It also simplifies the process of moving between servers.

According to the official patch notes, “You can now craft the Base Reconstruction Tool and aim it at your base to store it.” While vehicles aren’t included in this backup, the tool will remove your entire base from the world, including everything placed on or inside it. Unlike base blueprints, this tool allows for instant spawning of your base without the need for gathering materials or manual rebuilding. Plus, there’s a ‘snap to origin’ feature that attempts to place your base back in its original location. This is a game-changer that many players have been eagerly awaiting.

Patch 1.2.30.0 also introduces a much-requested cargo container for ornithopters, designed for transporting large quantities of items or materials. Players will need to craft components and assemble them with a welding torch to create this special container, which can then be used with a carrier ornithopter for easy transport.

Additionally, there are new vendors offering past Twitch drops for those who may have missed out, along with quality-of-life updates and a selection of free decorative items. The “Gift of the Sands” pack includes various items, such as a strategy table and miniatures, along with a couple of weapon skins and a holographic tree. It’s a delightful addition to the game, and there’s more to look forward to.

The third chapter of Dune: Awakening is currently in development, and it promises to be substantial. With patch 1.2.30.0 and future updates, there’s hope for revitalizing the survival MMO experience.

While some players are concerned about the declining player count and the roadmap ahead, others are focused on addressing the game’s “useless” melee combat, making it their mission to push for improvements.
