Players on the Quest for an Elusive Dispatch Secret
When you finish Dispatch, AdHoc’s episodic adventure game will wrap up your playthrough in a style reminiscent of Spotify Wrapped. My version of the main character, Robert Robertson III, was described as an unpredictable “everyman” who kept everyone on their toes. There are several potential descriptors you can receive, and intriguingly, even a month after the game’s finale, there’s one that no player has managed to unlock yet. AdHoc is starting to suspect it might be a bug.
In a recent interview, AdHoc co-founder Nick Herman shared that while many players have received three of the possible personality summaries, there’s a fourth that’s “really hard to get.” So challenging, in fact, that according to the studio’s internal stats, no one has actually achieved it yet.
“It’s based on gameplay performance,” Herman explained. “Essentially, it’s about whether you’ve perfected the game. I don’t know that anyone’s done that.”
“We focused it on the non-RNG elements.”
To unlock this elusive summary, you might need to execute a flawless run of the game’s dispatching mechanics, completing every job without leaving any unfinished. You’ll also likely need to hit every QTE during the action sequences. However, with the help of guides, this seems achievable, which is why Herman is beginning to worry that a bug might be preventing players from accessing this fourth personality summary.
“It might just be a bug,” Herman noted. “It’s so hard to do anyway that we thought, ‘Of course no one’s gotten it,’ but it’s probably a bug.”
While Herman doesn’t specify it by name, fans have discovered references to a “Tactician” personality card in the game’s files, but no one has figured out how to unlock it. Some even speculated it might be a remnant from a discarded ending. Given the game’s premise, it would make sense if this was the reward for achieving a “perfect” run of the dispatch mechanics, skillfully sending your crew of reformed ex-villains on the right missions and taking down enemies during the rare moments you venture into the field yourself. Perhaps AdHoc should investigate why this summary remains locked for players.
