Amazon’s Kindle makes for an excellent gift, with many models currently discounted.

If you’re on the hunt for the perfect gift for a book enthusiast, a Kindle is hard to top, especially if they already have a collection of Kindle titles. The latest sale makes it even more appealing: the previous-generation Kindle Scribe with 32GB of storage and ads is now available at its lowest price ever, starting at $279.99, which is a $140 discount. Additionally, the ad-supported versions of the standard Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft are all at near-record low prices, beginning at $89.99 ($20 off), $134.99 ($25 off), and $189.99 ($60 off) respectively.

For those considering a note-taking e-reader, the last-gen Kindle Scribe is an excellent choice, even without the new Scribe Colorsoft’s color E Ink display. It features a crisp 10.2-inch, 300ppi screen and, uniquely for a note-taking device, an adjustable warm light for comfortable reading at night. You can take notes directly on Kindle books with the included stylus, which has an eraser and a customizable shortcut button. Plus, the Scribe can function as a standalone digital notebook, complete with templates and AI tools that can summarize notes or tidy up messy handwriting.

Amazon’s other Kindle models also make great gifts, especially if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly or portable. While they lack the note-taking features of the Scribe, they rank among the best e-readers available, providing an outstanding reading experience with their sharp 300ppi displays. Each model is about the same weight as an iPhone 17 Pro Max, making them easy to carry; the entry-level Kindle’s compact six-inch design is even pocket-sized. All models boast long battery life and convenient USB-C charging, while the Colorsoft adds a 150ppi color mode that’s particularly attractive for graphic novel fans. Moreover, except for the standard Kindle, they all come with an IPX8 rating for water resistance, so you can relax during winter storms or spills.
