Activision is making a big push to get players into Black Ops 7.
Activision has recently rolled out some intriguing updates aimed at boosting interest in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. First up, there’s a week-long free trial for the multiplayer mode, running from December 16 to 22. During this trial, players can dive into over 20 maps and experience the Ashes of the Damned map in Zombies mode. Classic gameplay options like Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, and Kill Confirmed are available, along with the festive Holiday Havoc mode and Prop Hunt.
In addition to the free trial, Activision has slashed prices on Black Ops 7 by up to 30%. This brings the standard edition down from $70 to $49, while the Vault Edition is now priced at $80 instead of $100. For those gaming on Xbox or PC, Black Ops 7 is accessible through Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass. Microsoft has also reintroduced a $1 trial for new subscribers, allowing them to snag Game Pass Ultimate for just $1 in the first month.
Despite launching in November, Black Ops 7 has reportedly struggled in sales compared to 2024’s Black Ops 6, which may explain the timing of these discounts. Additionally, Activision has announced a shift in strategy, stating that it will no longer release games in the same sub-series, like Modern Warfare or Black Ops, in consecutive years. While initial sales for Black Ops 7 may have been underwhelming, the Call of Duty franchise continues to be a major draw for Xbox Game Pass. Meanwhile, Battlefield 6 has emerged as the top-selling game in the US for 2025 so far. On December 17, we’ll get insights from Circana on Black Ops 7’s sales performance in the US, though its availability on Game Pass may complicate the sales figures.
