Christmas Update for 99 Nights in the Forest: Key Details on Elves, Candy Canes, and Weekly Events

The Deer has always had a bit of a mischievous streak, but in the latest Christmas update for 99 Nights in the Forest, it’s taken things to a whole new level. This time, it’s targeting Santa’s elves, and if you step in to help, they’ll reward you with presents and candy canes.

You’ll notice distressed elves popping up at random times, and you’ll get a heads-up with an announcement saying “elves have appeared around the map” at the start of each new day. For every elf you rescue, you’ll receive a present containing a random survival item and five candy canes. These candy canes act as event currency, which you can trade for rewards in the elf shop located in the lobby.

There’s plenty to dive into during this holiday event in the popular Roblox survival crafting game, and I’m here to guide you through saving the elves, spending your candy canes, and overcoming any challenges along the way—so maybe put in a good word for me with Santa to secure my spot on the nice list.

The first week of the 99 Nights in the Forest Christmas update is live now, with more content expected before 2026 arrives. While details for the upcoming parts are still under wraps, it’s likely we’ll be tasked with helping the elves rebuild Santa’s Workshop in one of the future updates.

Here’s what to expect in the next two Christmas updates:

You can also tame friendly mammoths that appear in the holiday village, which is a nice bonus to help tackle the wintery challenges that make gameplay tougher. Keep reading for tips on saving the elves, but I’ve got some additional resources to assist you with the Christmas update.

To rescue the elves in 99 Nights in the Forest, grab tools from Santa’s abandoned sack of presents located near the Missing Kids board. There are three types of elves scattered around the map, each needing help with a ladder, ice skates, or a shovel. I suggest picking up one of those tools first since the Sled isn’t very useful at the moment—it just speeds up travel a bit, but can be cumbersome.

You can keep the ice skates and shovel, but the ladder is a one-time-use item, so make sure to keep a steady flow of coins coming in by defeating cultists and exploring the map.

Items in the Christmas shop are cheaper for players equipped with the Santa’s Helper class, but the discount is only five coins. Typically, elves in need will spawn in pairs of two or three, and I’ve spotted them in the early areas of the map with just a Level 2 Campfire, but you’ll find many more as you upgrade.

When you see an elf waving their arms in distress, look up! There’s likely another one stuck in a nearby tree. They can be easy to overlook, so make sure to adjust your camera angle for a better view.

To rescue them, equip the ladder and align it with the top of the tree (turning on grid snap can help). If you’ve positioned it correctly, climb to the top and interact with the elf to receive your present and a batch of candy canes.

For elves stranded in icy ponds, you’ll need the ice skates. I tried to slide across the ice, but it just doesn’t work. Plus, if you venture too far out, you’ll become an easy target for The Deer at night.

Simply equip the skates and glide across the frozen pond to help the elf stand up, earning yourself a present and five more candy canes. These elves are the easiest to spot, but for a bit of a challenge, you can find another elf in the forest who has set up a frozen obstacle course. If you can complete three laps around her arena flawlessly, she’ll reward you.

To rescue elves buried in snow, use the shovel to dig them out. There’s usually one buried nearby while another elf is blissfully making snow angels, completely unaware of their friend trapped in the snow.

Keep an eye out for bushes or rocks that might be hiding the elves you need to dig up. If there aren’t any environmental obstacles, you should see a stray arm or leg poking out from the snow. Free them for a present and more candy canes.

While it’s a temporary class, I recommend purchasing the Santa’s Helper role with your first 30 candy canes. This will grant you extra candy canes and make it easier to farm for more desirable items, like those cute new pet skins.

Some Christmas rewards aren’t available just yet, but they should unlock as the 99 Nights in the Forest Christmas event progresses.
