Fallout 5 Could Draw Inspiration from the TV Series

Fallout 5 is currently in development at Bethesda Game Studios, but it’s still a few years away from hitting the shelves. Recently, Todd Howard, the head of Bethesda, provided a brief update during an interview. He confirmed that Fallout 5 will draw inspiration from the popular Fallout TV series on Prime Video. “In short, yes,” he stated. “Fallout 5 will exist in a world where the stories and events of the show have occurred or are occurring. We are taking that into account.”

Additionally, Fallout 76 has also been shaped by the TV series, featuring new content that includes Walton Goggins’ character, The Ghoul. The game is currently free to play until December 22, likely to coincide with the launch of Fallout Season 2. Bethesda first announced Fallout 5 back in 2022, indicating it would follow the release of The Elder Scrolls VI. However, there’s no timeline for that game yet, so fans should prepare for a long wait for Fallout 5.

Earlier this month, Bethesda mentioned that Fallout is the franchise they are focusing on the most. “We’ve had a long-term plan for Fallout, and I wish I could share more about it today,” Howard told an outlet. “I’ll just say this: It’s the franchise that we’re doing the most in right now.” In the BBC interview, Howard expressed his excitement about the Fallout TV show helping to introduce new fans to the franchise. “There are still many people who won’t play a game—I think that’s improving, but some still feel intimidated,” he noted. “They still get to experience Fallout, and I think that’s really important because they become fans of the world.”

Beyond Fallout 5, there are rumors that Bethesda is also working on a remaster of Fallout 3.
