Steve Rogers Returns in Avengers: Doomsday as a New Father

Speculation and leaks have been swirling, but it was during the screenings of *Avatar: Fire and Ash* that we got the official confirmation: Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers, and he’s stepping into the role of a proud father.

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming *Avengers* film showcases Evans reprising his role as the original Captain America, a title currently held by Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).

The teaser opens on a serene farm, where Steve arrives on a motorcycle, accompanied by a gentle piano rendition of the “Avengers” theme. His iconic blue helmet evokes classic Captain America nostalgia, and he takes a moment to reflect on his old suit. The scene shifts to him cradling a newborn, beaming with pride. It concludes with the message, “Steve Rogers will return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’” alongside a countdown clock set to hit zero exactly one year before the film’s release on December 18, 2026. Additionally, more character-focused teasers are expected to drop in the coming weeks.

Since the events of *Avengers: Endgame*, where he created a branched timeline to be with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), we haven’t seen Steve Rogers. He lived a full life with her, even having a child, before returning to the main timeline as an elderly man to pass Captain America’s shield to Wilson. After Steve’s disappearance and subsequent freezing in the first *Captain America*, Peggy aged but never stopped loving him. Thanks to the Quantum Realm’s time-travel technology, they finally reunited, married, and spent decades together.

Steve has kept his recent life under wraps from Sam and Bucky, but perhaps he’s been concealing the fact that he’ll need to return to face a Doctor Doom who bears a striking resemblance to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) at some point.

We’ll have to wait and see what unfolds with Cap, his baby, and whether that baby has superpowers when nearly every actor who has portrayed a Marvel character returns in *Avengers: Doomsday* late next year.
