Chainsaw Man Season 2 Confirmed, Promising to Adapt “The Greatest Arc” of the Manga

Chainsaw Man season 2 has been officially announced, with animation studio MAPPA revealing that it will be titled Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc. The announcement included a teaser and promotional images, giving fans a glimpse of what’s next for Denji and the Public Safety Division.

This new season will continue the story from the original manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, following the success of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, which hit US theaters on October 24. The studio opted for a movie release before season 2 to attract a wider audience, as they noted that Crunchyroll subscribers might not always venture to theaters. Now, the focus shifts back to streaming.

Season 2 will adapt the International Assassins Arc from the manga. This arc has been praised by fans as “the greatest arc in the whole franchise,” showcasing Denji’s rising fame and the attention it draws from various hitmen. As a result, the remaining arcs of Part 1, including the Gun Devil arc and the Control Devil arc, will be saved for future seasons or movies.

The Reze Arc, which premiered with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, covered the Bomb Girl Arc, which is essential viewing before diving into season 2. The movie illustrates Denji gaining better control over his powers, setting the stage for more intense confrontations with Devils in the upcoming episodes.

The film was a significant commercial hit, raking in over $154 million globally, solidifying Chainsaw Man’s status as one of the most popular and best anime series currently airing.
