Divinity: Original Sin 2 Actress Thrilled by “Delicious” Trailer Featuring a Roasted Character, Awaits Return to the Franchise

Prolific video game voice actor Alix Wilton Regan, known for her roles in Divinity: Original Sin and Original Sin 2 as the lizard-slave elf Sebille, expressed her enthusiasm for the debut Divinity trailer showcased at The Game Awards. The trailer features a striking scene where a man is cooked inside a wicker man statue, reminiscent of a famous moment from the classic horror film, The Wicker Man.

“I really dug it,” Wilton Regan shared in a recent interview. “It felt like a kind of spin on the really famous film.” In the original 1973 movie, a detective meets a grim fate, burned alive in a wicker effigy as part of a superstitious ritual.

“I love folk horror, and I think that trailer is just really creepy and delicious,” she added, referencing the unsettling imagery of the man being roasted like a holiday feast. Developer Larian cleverly emphasizes the connection between humanity and meat, juxtaposing visuals of the sacrifice’s tendons tearing with a festival-goer gnawing on a turkey leg. As the sacrifice burns, a whole pig rotates on a spit, creating a vivid festival of fire.

Wilton Regan expressed her excitement for the project, stating, “I am super excited to see what they do with the project,” although she mentioned, “I haven’t been approached by Larian yet” regarding participation in the upcoming game. The key word here is “yet.”

Larian’s head honcho, Swen Vincke, noted that players don’t necessarily need to experience the older Divinity titles before diving into the new one, unless they’re interested in the lore.
