Blue Prince Developed Without AI Assistance, Confirms Developer
Over the weekend, The Indie Game Awards made headlines by revoking the Game of the Year title from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 due to the publisher’s use of AI. The coveted award was then awarded to the indie favorite, Blue Prince. In response, publisher Raw Fury emphasized that Blue Prince was created entirely without AI involvement. In a statement shared on X, Raw Fury praised Tonda Ros and his team, highlighting that the game “was built and crafted with full human instinct … It is the result of eight years of development fueled by imagination and creativity, and we are extremely proud of what Tonda has achieved.” For those seeking reassurance: Blue Prince was developed solely by Tonda Ros @dogubomb and his team, with no AI used in its creation.
Blue Prince is a roguelike puzzle game where players step into the shoes of Simon P. Jones, who stands to inherit the enigmatic Mt. Holly Estate after the passing of his great uncle, Herbert S. Sinclair. The mansion contains 45 known rooms, but Simon must uncover the elusive 46th room to secure his inheritance. Each night, the mansion’s layout shifts, forcing Simon to restart his search if he doesn’t find it in time. The game also delves into mysteries tied to Simon’s own past, adding depth to the narrative, even if not every mystery is resolved, enhancing the emotional weight of the story.
Blue Prince has also been recognized as one of the top-reviewed games of 2025. In May, Ros made it clear that there would be no DLC or expansions for Blue Prince. “It had always been my dream to release a definitive version of the game at launch,” he stated. “I’m a big fan of complete standalone experiences, and it was never my plan to continually tinker with the game through regular content updates, room rebalancing, or DLC.” Blue Prince is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
