Stranger Things Season 5 Episode Lengths Revealed, Final Episode Extended by 3 Minutes

With just over a week left until the final episode of Stranger Things season 5 arrives on Netflix (and select theaters), co-creator Ross Duffer has confirmed the runtimes for the remaining four episodes. Get ready to stock up on snacks for this binge session!

The big news is that the series finale, titled ‘The Rightside Up’, will be available starting December 31 and has a runtime of 128 minutes. Initially, Netflix announced that the finale would be 125 minutes, so it seems we’ve gained an extra three minutes somewhere along the way. This could be a minor oversight, or perhaps it hints at a sneak peek of next year’s animated spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, after the credits.

All three episodes of Volume 2, set to drop on December 25, are confirmed to be over an hour long. Episode 5, ‘Shock Jock,’ runs for 68 minutes, Episode 6, ‘Escape from Camazotz,’ is the longest at 75 minutes, and Episode 7, ‘The Bridge,’ comes in at 66 minutes. In total, season 5 will clock in at just over 10 hours, while the previous season stretched over 13 hours.

The teaser for Volume 2, released earlier this month, has fans on edge, particularly concerning the fate of beloved character Steve Harrington. This might explain why the Duffer Brothers remarked, “It’s gonna be a long six-day wait for the finale” after Volume 2’s release. If you can’t wait two days for the new episodes, a clip featuring a plan to take down Vecna is already available online.

Stranger Things season 5 volume 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. If you need a recap before diving into Volume 2, be sure to check out the ending explained for season 5 volume 1, and mark your calendar for the episode drop with the release schedule.
