Effortless Strategies to Defeat OSCAR in Black Ops 7 Zombies: Astra Malorum
If you’re looking to take down OSCAR quickly, you’ve got a couple of strategies at your disposal. This elite enemy roams the latest Black Ops 7 Zombies map, and defeating him is crucial for completing the Astra Malorum Easter egg.
Even if you’re not focused on the Easter egg, OSCAR brings a unique set of challenges to the table, making encounters with him quite intense. Knowing how to tackle this foe can definitely give you an edge.
You essentially have two approaches: stealthily navigate around him or confront him head-on. The latter is more engaging and necessary for the Easter egg, which rewards you with a Shiny Trinket to use on a hidden friendly Ravager scattered throughout the map. However, this option comes with its risks, as OSCAR won’t go down easily. To maximize your chances, here’s how to defeat OSCAR in Black Ops 7 Zombies.
Unfortunately, OSCAR isn’t vulnerable to any of the elemental ammo mods in Black Ops 7 Zombies. While his health isn’t massive, he continuously spawns UFO-like drones that provide him with a shield, making him immune to damage until those drones are taken out.
The good news is that the UFO drones are susceptible to Brain Rot. You can also shoot them down with regular ammo, but that will take longer. When you find yourself surrounded by zombies with OSCAR hot on your heels, taking out those drones quickly becomes a priority, so grab that Brain Rot ammo mod as soon as you can.
OSCAR starts patrolling the Astro Malorum map right from the get-go, and he can become a nuisance pretty quickly as you explore. The general strategy is to avoid him initially, but with the right tactics, you can take him down.
Begin by focusing on the UFO drones to expose OSCAR, allowing you to chip away at his health the traditional way. However, juggling the zombie horde while dealing with OSCAR can be quite the challenge. His laser attacks pack a punch, and he can buff nearby zombies, making them faster and more dangerous.
Given how tough OSCAR is and the chaos he creates, the best approach is to initially steer clear of him until you’ve accumulated enough points to activate traps.
There are various traps scattered throughout the map, but you’ll need to lure OSCAR into one to deal damage effectively. I’ve found the Apogee Annihilator to be the quickest way to take him down in Astra Malorum. This trap is located along one of the rocky paths leading from the observatory, so make sure to memorize its position while you search for OSCAR.
Once OSCAR is close to the Apogee Annihilator, spend 1,500 essence points to activate its Astronomer Rockets bombardment, which unleashes explosives in the area. Keep OSCAR near the trap, and you can take him out in one go. At the very least, you’ll significantly reduce his health, allowing you to either repeat the trap strategy or finish him off with bullets, though those pesky UFOs will still be a hassle without traps.
Defeating OSCAR rewards you with resources, XP, and completes an associated challenge. He’ll drop a Shiny Trinket, so be sure to grab it and look for a green-eyed Ravager hiding in barricaded areas (marked as a white dot on the mini-map). Feed the Shiny Trinket to the Ravager three times across different rounds or areas, and it will become your cymbal-clanging ally.
Taking out OSCAR also gives you a brief window to explore Astra Malorum freely. However, he will eventually respawn and resume his patrols, so be ready to repeat this process, especially if you’re aiming to complete the Easter egg, as you’ll need to defeat him three times to do so.
