Bloober Team’s CEO reveals that their upcoming Nintendo-exclusive horror game draws inspiration from Resident Evil and Silent Hill, featuring a unique “bold twist” designed specifically for Nintendo hardware.
Bloober Team hasn’t officially unveiled Project M, their upcoming horror title exclusive to Nintendo platforms, but CEO Piotr Babieno has been dropping intriguing hints. Initially announced in July 2024, details about the game have been sparse, aside from its significance to Bloober Team’s lineup. However, an update from the studio has finally surfaced.
In a conversation with an outlet, Babieno expressed his excitement about the overarching vision for Project M. If his enthusiasm is any indication, this game could be something truly remarkable.
“You have no idea how hard it is for me not to reveal what Project M truly is—but for now, it’s still too early to talk about it. We’re confident that we’ll be able to share the first details very soon.
“What I can say is this: fans of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo, and Eternal Darkness will immediately feel at home. That said, Project M introduces a bold twist—one that no horror game has ever explored before. This is a vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware.”
One of my all-time favorite horror experiences is Zombi U, largely because of how it leveraged the Wii U’s second screen to create tension. I can’t help but hope that Piotr is hinting at a similarly innovative gameplay mechanic for Project M. He might be alluding to the Switch 2’s second screen and/or mouse capabilities, especially since the handheld doesn’t match the raw power of PlayStation and Xbox. Whether this will turn out to be a clever feature or just a gimmick remains to be seen, but thankfully, it seems we won’t have to wait long for more details.
Babieno has previously mentioned his desire to revive the “golden age” of GameCube horror classics like Resident Evil 4 and Eternal Darkness.
