Rhea Seehorn on Carol’s Shocking Pluribus Finale: “Her Impulsiveness is Unpredictable”
Rhea Seehorn, known for her role in Pluribus, has shared her thoughts on the intense finale, where Carol makes a drastic choice that could significantly impact the upcoming second season.
Spoilers for the ending of Pluribus season 1 follow.
In the closing moments of the first season, Carol is understandably upset. The shocking news that the eggs she had frozen years ago for starting a family with her wife, Helen, are being used by The Others to help her join their collective without her consent is a heavy blow.
This leads to a pivotal moment where Carol must choose between pursuing personal happiness or saving the world, a dilemma reflected in the episode’s title, ‘La Chica o El Mundo.’ She reluctantly teams up with Manousos, played by Carlos-Manuel Vesga.
In a surprising twist, she even has an atomic bomb delivered to her neighborhood, a callback to her earlier joke in the explosive third episode titled ‘Grenade.’
As fans eagerly analyze this moment until the arrival of Pluribus season 2, we reached out to Seehorn to get her take on Carol’s mindset during that critical scene. Interestingly, she admits that even she isn’t entirely sure.
“I honestly don’t know. I made peace with that. Even if Vince [Gilligan] was saying we don’t know where we’re going with it, usually as an actor I would make an intentional decision about what I think Carol’s plan is.”
“Maybe this makes me a horrible actor,” Seehorn chuckles. “But I genuinely think Carol is uncertain. I didn’t approach it lazily; I did it because one of her flaws—sometimes a superpower—is her impulsiveness. She acts before she thinks. I believe she knows she needs to do something significant, but I’m not quite sure what that will be.”
Pluribus is currently available for streaming on Apple TV.
