007 First Light Delayed, Pushing Back Bond’s Next Adventure
On Tuesday, IO Interactive revealed that the release of their upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, has been pushed back by a couple of months. Originally set to launch on March 27, 2026, players will now have to wait until May 27, 2026, to step into the shoes of the iconic secret agent.
It’s worth noting that March was already packed with new game releases.
“As an independent developer and publisher, this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, in a statement shared on social media. The studio emphasized that the delay will provide them with the opportunity to polish and refine the game, ensuring they deliver the best possible version at launch.
Just a few months ago, a delay into May 2026 would have seemed risky, especially with Grand Theft Auto 6 originally scheduled for that month. However, with GTA 6 now set to release on November 19, 2026, IO Interactive and other developers planning spring releases can now feel a bit more at ease.
007 First Light will explore a young and inexperienced James Bond in what IO Interactive describes as an original origin story for the character, portrayed by Patrick Gibson from Dexter: Original Sin. Players can expect to encounter fresh takes on familiar characters like M and Q, along with new faces, including a villain played by Lenny Kravitz.
The game is set to launch next May for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
