007 First Light Release Pushed Back
For much of last year, IO Interactive kept fans in the loop about their upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, which was initially slated for a March 27, 2026 release. However, the launch has now been rescheduled to May 27. In a recent online statement, Hakan Abrak from IO Interactive described 007 First Light as the studio’s “most ambitious project to date,” highlighting classic Bond elements like thrilling car chases, high-tech gadgets, and exciting global adventures. He explained that the delay is intended to ensure the game meets the high standards players expect from day one. “The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end,” Abrak noted. “These extra two months will help us polish and refine the experience, allowing us to deliver the best version possible at launch. We believe this will set 007 First Light up for long-term success, and we truly appreciate the patience and support we’ve received since the announcement.”
In November 2025, Abrak also discussed the delay of GTA 6, suggesting it could be beneficial for 007 First Light and the gaming industry as a whole. The new title features Patrick Gibson portraying a younger version of James Bond, with a storyline that reimagines 007’s origins. Martin Emborg, the narrative director for 007 First Light, recently shared that Lenny Kravitz’s character, the pirate king Bawma, won’t be the only antagonist in the game. He emphasized Kravitz’s significant influence on Bawma’s development. “We envisioned Bawma as a larger-than-life, vibrant character,” Emborg explained. “When Lenny joined the project, he played a crucial role in shaping Bawma. His input helped define the character’s style, traits, and backstory, and we collaborated closely to bring him to life.” 007 First Light will be available on Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
