10 Exciting Insights Revealed in the Latest GTA 6 Update
Yesterday, a wealth of new details about Grand Theft Auto 6 was unveiled just ahead of the pre-orders launching on June 25. While much of this information serves to promote the $100 Ultimate Edition, a closer look reveals some intriguing insights into the upcoming open-world experience. When we combine these insights with previous leaks and trailers, it becomes clear that GTA 6 is shaping up to be a massive game filled with activities, fashion choices, weapon modifications, and heists. Here are 10 fresh details gleaned from the latest marketing push for GTA 6.
One standout feature highlighted on the Ultimate Edition page is the ability to stash and later sell stolen goods. Certain vehicles will allow players to hide their ill-gotten gains for future cash sales. This could suggest a return to the beloved burglary missions from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. At the very least, it seems players will need to secure their stolen items, adding a layer of tension during police pursuits.
Weapon customization, a key element in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, is making a comeback in GTA 6. The Special Edition includes unique revolvers with special cosmetic designs, hinting at a more extensive weapon customization system in the new game.
Among the marketing details, there are multiple mentions of weapon lockers that will enable players to “customize your loadout for any occasion.” This suggests a system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2’s limited loadout, meaning players won’t be able to carry an arsenal of 50 weapons like in previous titles. Leaks from 2022 indicated this change, showing gameplay footage of the protagonist, Jason, managing his weapons more strategically.
Another feature borrowed from RDR2 appears to be the chapter-based storytelling. The Ultimate Edition bonuses will be “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter.” This structure mirrors RDR2’s six main chapters and two epilogues, which often brought significant shifts in character arcs and world exploration. This could mean a more grounded narrative for GTA 6, moving away from the disjointed storytelling of earlier entries.
One new side activity teased is the “Classic Car Collection,” where players can discover vintage vehicles scattered throughout the map. While some cars will be exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, there will be plenty of dilapidated rides to restore. It seems Rockstar is taking inspiration from the Barn Finds in Forza Horizon.
The marketing also describes a “Gang Compound,” hinting at open-world activities involving gang hideouts that players can raid for loot. One of these compounds will be exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, but it sounds like there will be multiple locations to explore. Players will need to battle gang members and escape with valuable items.
As expected, vehicle customization is back in GTA 6, with numerous mentions of car modifications and off-road kits. While some features will be exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, it’s clear that players will have more options than ever for personalizing their rides.
In terms of character customization, it appears that the two main protagonists will have a wider array of clothing, hairstyles, and makeup options than any previous GTA character. While some of these options are locked behind the $100 paywall, the inclusion of clothing and makeup shops suggests a more in-depth character customization experience.
One of the clothing items references “a hit TV show character, Macca the Gator.” It’s likely that Macca the Gator will be an animated series available on in-game TVs, reminiscent of the shows featured in previous GTA titles.
I’m calling it now: fishing will be a feature in Grand Theft Auto 6. One of the Ultimate Edition bonuses includes a large boat, described as “perfect for casting in Gambit Bay and reeling in catches of all sorts.” While this alone isn’t definitive proof, previous leaks indicated that Rockstar was developing fishing mechanics and bait shops. Given how much of RDR2’s influence is evident in GTA 6, it seems likely that fishing will make the cut.
I can’t wait to set sail and spend hours fishing off the coast in GTA 6 when it launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
