2026 Xbox Games Showcase Set to Feature Gears of War Direct

Microsoft has announced that its annual Xbox Games Showcase will take place on Sunday, June 7. This event is set to deliver “first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles” from both Xbox Game Studios and various third-party partners, featuring everything from major franchises to soon-to-be indie hits. Following the showcase, there will be an in-depth look at Gears of War: E-Day, the latest installment from The Coalition.

Expect to see some major titles slated for 2026 at the showcase, including Playground Games’ new Fable, Mojang’s Minecraft Dungeons 2, and Halo Studios’ Halo: Campaign Evolved. With Microsoft also owning Zenimax Media’s Bethesda Softworks and Activision Blizzard, there’s a strong chance we’ll hear about the next Call of Duty and updates on Blizzard’s upcoming games. As for The Elder Scrolls 6? It might make an appearance, but don’t hold your breath.

This showcase will mark the first under the leadership of Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, who succeeded the recently retired Phil Spencer. Sharma, along with new Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty, is expected to share insights about the next-gen Xbox, codenamed Project Helix.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 will be streamed live on Xbox’s YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels on the specified dates and times.

After the main event, fans can look forward to the Gears of War: E-Day Direct, which promises to delve into the origins of Emergence Day, revealing new details, gameplay, and insights about this highly anticipated chapter in the Gears of War saga. There’s even a chance we might get an update on the long-awaited Gears of War movie, which was first announced at the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase.

Additionally, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase will see the return of Xbox Fanfest in Los Angeles. This year’s fan-centric event will reflect on the past 25 years while also looking ahead to what’s next. More information, including opportunities to win tickets to attend Xbox Fanfest, can be found on the official Xbox website.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 will follow this year’s Summer Game Fest, kicking off on Friday, June 5.
