2026’s Hottest Gaming Day Just Became a Bit Less Crowded
With publishers eager to steer clear of the November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, September is shaping up to be an incredibly busy month for gamers. However, it just got a little less hectic. The team behind the upcoming first-person soulslike, Valor Mortis, has decided to shift its release from September 24 to October 13.
One More Level shared this update on X, noting that the original release date was set before it became so crowded. On September 24, players can expect titles like Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition for the Switch 2. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to launch the following day. To add to the chaos, Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4 are all releasing the week prior.
The studio mentioned that the delay will also allow them to integrate feedback from the recent Steam demo. One More Level is known for the acclaimed GhostRunner series, which features first-person action platforming with precise controls. From the initial demos of Valor Mortis, it appears to retain that responsive gameplay while adapting swordplay into a From Software-inspired action RPG. The game is set in an alternate 19th-century Europe where Napoleon emerged victorious, and a mysterious supernatural plague is spreading.
While October may have fewer releases than September, it’s still packed with titles like Ace Combat 8 on October 1, Gears of War: E-Day and Star Wars: Galactic Racer on October 6, Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen on October 9, and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on October 15. Plus, there’s a new Final Fantasy and Call of Duty arriving later in the month. It seems that only Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, Barbie Rewind, and a few other daring titles are willing to face off against GTA 6 in late November.
And SGF 2026 has only just begun.
