While we might see a more mature take on the Mummy franchise this year under director Lee Cronin, the beloved series featuring Brendan Fraser is set to make a comeback. It was confirmed last November that both Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their roles as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell, directed by the team behind recent hits like Scream 6 and Ready or Not.

However, there are still questions about the return of Evie’s brother, Jonathan Carnahan, played by John Hannah, and the charismatic Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay, the leader of the Medjai. Fortunately, Fehr shared some thoughts on the possibility of reuniting with the O’Connells.

“I’ve heard many things from a lot of people,” Fehr said. “I have not been officially approached, but I’ve heard many things from many people. I’m assuming it’s going to happen, and I’m probably as excited as you are about it.”

Fehr was a standout in the first two films as the enigmatic leader of the ancient order tasked with stopping Arnold Vosloo’s Imhotep from returning. He could have easily led his own spin-off, but instead, we got five Scorpion King movies. Oof.

Looking ahead, Fehr remains hopeful that the new film will honor the legacy of a franchise that means a lot to him. “It’s a big responsibility to create a movie that fans will love as much as the first two, which are the only ones that really matter. The Mummy made me a working actor, and I love the film,” Fehr explained. “I mean, I love the franchise. I think it still holds up wonderfully, and I cherish the people I worked with. So it would be incredible to do that again.”

Let’s hope someone picks up the phone and calls Fehr back into action. That’s the phone book, of course, not the Book of the Dead. For everything else you need to know about The Mummy 4, head over here.
