A highly anticipated anime from 2026 is set to return for a second season ahead of schedule.
Fans of unconventional romantic encounters can look forward to more excitement, as the anime series *Marriagetoxin* is set to return for a second season in 2027. The announcement came during the finale of season 1, which aired on June 30.
For those new to the series, *Marriagetoxin* is an action-packed romantic comedy that centers on Gero, a member of the Poison Master clan. When his sister faces pressure to enter an arranged marriage to uphold their family legacy, Gero steps up to navigate the dating scene himself. His journey leads him to Mei Kinosaki, a marriage con artist who becomes his guide in matters of love. Despite being a master assassin, Gero struggles with romance, but Kinosaki soon discovers that his true charm lies in his selflessness and eagerness to assist others. To help him find a partner, she devises a plan that involves sending him on high-stakes protection missions.
Produced by Bones Film, known for *My Hero Academia*, *Marriagetoxin* blends romantic comedy with thrilling action. Gero’s potential love interests include a dashing art thief, a shy college student with a passion for magic, and a lively member of the Beast Clans who commands adorable rodents that squeak “Hammu!”
Following the success of *My Hero Academia’s* final season, several talented animators from Bones contributed to *Marriagetoxin*, including a standout battle sequence featuring the renowned Yutaka Nakamura. The series has been an enjoyable experience thus far.
Excitingly, the entire key staff is returning for the second season: Motonobu Hori will direct again, Kimiko Ueno will handle series composition and scripting, Kohei Tokuoka remains the character designer and chief animation director, while Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi will take care of the music.
The *Marriagetoxin* manga has been serialized in Shōnen Jump Plus since April 2022 and has been collected into 17 volumes. With the anime only adapting up to partway through volume 6 and the manga still ongoing, there’s plenty of content left to explore.
