A major overhaul is on the way for the most unpopular Warframe.

One of the oldest Warframes in the game is finally set to receive a long-awaited overhaul.

Since its launch in 2013, Warframe has evolved from a slow-paced shooter into a vibrant, fast-paced space adventure. As a result, the roster of playable Warframes has expanded, introducing increasingly intricate abilities.

Banshee, who was introduced in the game’s inaugural year, is now getting a significant mechanical update. Known for her sound-based powers, her current abilities focus on crowd control, allowing her to push, stagger, and stun foes with sonic attacks. She can also inflict a debuff that highlights a “weak spot” on enemies.

“It used to be the best kit in the game because crowd control was so crucial,” noted the game’s creative director. However, over the 13 years since Warframe’s release, a slew of new Warframes have emerged.

“Consider all the Warframes that have been released since 2013 that also address crowd control and have become increasingly complex by 2026,” said the community director. In addition to new Warframes, the team has introduced mods that enhance weak-point damage and emphasized area-of-effect abilities with Blast damage.

“It was time to integrate all of that into the original crowd control and damage scaling frame that rewarded precision. That’s the core idea behind her rework,” the creative director explained.

As one of the game’s veteran Warframes, Banshee has a dedicated fanbase that has been advocating for a rework. The developers frequently update older frames to align their abilities with the evolving gameplay.

“For quite some time, the community has been asking, ‘Please, Banshee, please,’” the community director shared. “At a recent event, someone even stood up and said, ‘Please rework Banshee.’ We were like, ‘Oh!’”

The developers actively engage with the community through Devstreams and events.

“We maintain a running list of what the community is really eager for,” the community director added. “Banshee has consistently been at the top of that list… she’s definitely due for a change.”

Banshee’s rework will be part of the upcoming fall update, Iceblade of Narin, which will also feature Deluxe skins for Banshee and Qorvex, a new ice-themed Warframe, along with Citrine Prime.
