A New 2D Castlevania is Coming from the Creators of Dead Cells!

After a long 12-year wait filled with countless indie tributes, Konami is finally bringing us a new Castlevania game titled Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. This exciting new entry is being developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the talented creators behind the acclaimed titles The Rogue Prince of Persia and the legendary Dead Cells.

Set 23 years after Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse, this game is slated for release in 2026. The trailer showcases gameplay featuring a young, blonde female Belmont heir who swings across castle rooftops and battles a variety of bosses in a stunning cel-shaded 2D world. This is a moment that many Castlevania fans had almost given up on, especially as Konami seemed to step back from both the franchise and the gaming scene during the late 2010s.

Evil Empire and Motion Twin appear to be the perfect teams to revive this action platforming series.
