A New Critical Role Actor Joins Final Fantasy 7 Revelation as a Different Shiva

New details have emerged about the voice cast for the Final Fantasy VII remake project. Marisha Ray, well-known for her roles on Critical Role, is set to lend her voice to Shiva—specifically, a unique version known as Polydroid Shiva. This announcement was made during New York Comic Con, revealing that this iteration of Shiva appears to be a digitized, NPC-style take on the iconic summon. If you recall those Lego-like versions of Cloud, Barret, and Tifa from the Fort Condor minigame in Rebirth, Polydroid Shiva resembles that aesthetic.

At the Final Fantasy VII Revelation panel at NYCC, Square Enix showcased a clip featuring Shiva engaging in conversation with Vincent Valentine, voiced by Matt Mercer, who is also Ray’s husband in real life.

The dynamic between Matt and Marisha as Vincent and Shiva is adorable, and it’s exciting to think about snowboarding as him!

It appears that this alternate version of Shiva has been brought in by the Gold Saucer to oversee the amusement park’s snowboarding mini-game, which has encountered some issues. Vincent is tasked with fixing the situation, leading to some entertaining interactions between the two characters. It’s a clever way for the narrative team to incorporate the real-life couple into the game, and from the clip, it looks like they’re really enjoying the experience.
