A new Witcher novel is on the way and could be released sooner than anticipated.

Fans of The Witcher series have plenty to be excited about, including a remaster of The Witcher 3, the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, and the highly anticipated The Witcher 4, which is set to release in 2028. Those who love the monster-hunting adventures are likely aware that the games are inspired by a legendary book series, which is also the basis for a popular Netflix adaptation. They’ll be thrilled to hear that author Andrzej Sapkowski has more stories in the works.

During a recent convention in Poland, Sapkowski revealed that he is currently writing the next Witcher book, aiming to complete it by the end of 2027. According to reports, this new installment will once again feature Geralt as the main character, as Sapkowski has no plans to focus on other characters like Yennefer.

The most recent addition to the series was 2025’s The Witcher: Crossroads of Ravens, a prequel that follows a young Geralt on his first major adventure as a Witcher. With Geralt now portrayed as middle-aged in the short stories and novels, there are still many untold years in his life, and Sapkowski is aware of this potential.

In an interview, he expressed that “the sky is the limit” when asked about exploring Geralt’s earlier years through more prequels. He also mentioned, “I am considering writing more short stories.” The Witcher saga began with a short story, and Sapkowski released two collections before the first novel, Blood of Elves.

However, he acknowledges that crafting short stories presents its own set of challenges. “It is not an easy thing to create a good short story. This is much more difficult than writing a novel,” he stated.

Whether the next Witcher book features a young or seasoned Geralt, Sapkowski is targeting completion by the end of next year. If he meets this deadline, Polish readers could see the new book by late 2027 or early 2028. Following the release pattern of Crossroads of Ravens, international fans might have to wait about a year longer to dive into the next chapter of Geralt’s journey.
