A Power Rangers icon makes a triumphant return to theaters this summer in a final posthumous performance.
Well Go USA Entertainment has announced that the superhero action film *Legend of the White Dragon* will hit theaters on August 28. This film is particularly significant for Power Rangers enthusiasts, as it features the last performance of Jason David Frank, known for his role in *Mighty Morphin Power Rangers*.
Co-directed by Aaron and Sean Schoenke, *Legend of the White Dragon* follows the story of a superhero who, after being shunned by the public due to a fierce battle, emerges from obscurity to protect his city once more. Jason David Frank takes on the role of White Dragon, a character clearly inspired by Tommy Oliver’s White Ranger persona, which Frank famously portrayed in *Mighty Morphin Power Rangers* and other related media. The film was successfully crowdfunded in 2020 but had not yet seen a theatrical release.
Tragically, Jason David Frank passed away in 2022, making *Legend of the White Dragon* his final film appearance. In a statement, the CEO of Well Go USA Entertainment, Doris Pfardrescher, noted that the film “not only delivers the thrilling sci-fi action fans crave, but also celebrates the life and legacy of Jason David Frank.” It’s fitting that the release coincides with National Power Rangers Day.
Joining Jason David Frank in the film is his daughter, Jenna Frank, along with other Power Rangers alumni such as Jason Faunt, Ciara Hanna, and Cerina Vincent. The cast also includes Rachele Brooke Smith, Andrew Bachelor, David Ramsey, Mark Dacascos, Aaron Schoenke, and Michael Madsen, who will appear posthumously.
*Legend of the White Dragon* will have a limited theatrical release on August 28. If you or someone you know is facing mental health challenges, support is available.
