A Promising Soulslike from 2025 Is Set to Receive an Unexpected Sequel from Its Original Director Amid Studio Turmoil
Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, has revealed that a sequel to the 2025 soulslike title Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is in the works, but it won’t be developed by the original team at Leenzee.
Instead, the sequel will be helmed by Xia Siyuan, the creative lead of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, at a newly established studio called Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology. The reasons behind Siyuan’s move to this new studio and the number of original developers from Leenzee who have joined him remain uncertain.
This announcement comes on the heels of reports, including one from April 2026, indicating that Siyuan left Leenzee at the end of 2025. His departure reportedly triggered a wave of exits among the core team at Leenzee during that same timeframe.
The saga of Wuchang is far from finished.
Today, we’re thrilled to announce that 505 Games has officially partnered with Xia Siyuan and his new studio Indolphinity (Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology) to collaborate on the sequel.
This could shed light on why Wuchang: Fallen Feathers ceased updates in November 2025, and it certainly clarifies why Digital Bros and Siyuan have confirmed that the sequel will be developed by an entirely new team.
“We listen closely to the real voices of players and the community, and we remain firmly devoted to our original creative aspirations and cultural foundations, striving to answer everyone’s long-standing expectations with more polished quality and a more complete experience,” Siyuan stated in the press release.
While there’s no specific timeline for the sequel’s release, the official announcement mentions an “initial investment” of 21.5 million euros (approximately $25 million), suggesting that the full launch is still some time away.
