A thrilling John Wick game is on the way, and it looks incredible!
People often say two things about John Wick: first, that Keanu Reeves is a total badass, and second, that the franchise feels like a video game come to life. Surprisingly, it’s taken over ten years for a true John Wick game to emerge. However, after seeing what was showcased in the recent State of Play, it seems the wait might just be worth it.
Currently dubbed the Untitled John Wick Game, the trailer kicks off with some slick CGI that introduces John Wick and his stylish assassin persona. The final moments of the trailer give us a glimpse of the gameplay in action. Though brief, it looks promising, showcasing John Wick getting up close and personal with foes, delivering hits, slams, and breaking down anyone who dares to challenge him.
This project is a collaboration between Saber, Lionsgate, and franchise director Chad Stahelski. It promises an original storyline set within the authentic John Wick universe.
According to the game’s description, “Saber’s design will be faithful to the unique style and signature elements of the series, including a distinct gun fu combat system, jaw-dropping camerawork, immersive driving experiences, and a variety of memorable environments, all crafted to make players feel like they are in a John Wick movie, playing the role of John Wick himself.”
While this isn’t the first John Wick video game— that title goes to the 2019 tactical RPG John Wick Hex— the character has also made appearances in games like Fortnite and has influenced many modern action titles. However, this new game seems poised to truly capture the essence of what makes the films so captivating, created by the same team behind the series.
