Activision Assures Fans That Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s Campaign Will Be a Step Up from BLOPS7
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s campaign was a major letdown. Now, it looks like Activision and Xbox are eager to show that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a different story. For the first time, the beta will feature a campaign level for players to experience before the official launch.
Last year’s Black Ops 7 fell short of expectations. It felt more like an extension of Black Ops 6 than a true sequel. While the multiplayer was decent and the zombies mode had its moments, the main campaign was a chaotic disaster. With bizarre scenarios like battling evil giant plants and demonic spiders, it lacked a coherent story to tie everything together. It was a disappointment, prompting Activision to apologize shortly after launch and promise improvements. This might explain why the Modern Warfare 4 beta, launching next week, is packed with content, including a single-player mission.

Pre-order to play this mission in the Modern Warfare 4 Beta.
On August 14, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma shared on social media that when the Call of Duty: MW4 beta kicks off on August 21 for those who digitally pre-ordered, players will have access to a single-player mission called “Trenched.” This mission will also be available in the open beta for everyone on all platforms starting August 28.
In another first, the Modern Warfare 4 beta will introduce players to the new Warzone: Resurgence map, Zodiac. Alongside these features, players can expect a variety of maps, game modes, weapons, and more. It seems like Activision is really committed to showing CoD fans that they’re stepping up their game this time.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on October 23. Switch 2 players will need to wait for the open beta to dive into MW4.
For the first time ever: Multiplayer. Campaign. Call of Duty: Warzone. All in one Beta.
