Adobe’s revamped AI studio retains the essence of your creations.

Adobe is rolling out exciting new features for its Firefly AI assistant, along with a revamped AI studio that allows for seamless editing and design generation from a single platform. The updated Firefly experience, now in private beta, aims to provide “persistent context, reusable assets, and organized workflows” for your projects, streamlining the journey from brainstorming to production-ready designs without the hassle of switching between different applications.

This update marks the latest in a series of enhancements to Adobe’s comprehensive Firefly AI hub since its debut in September 2023. Alongside the user interface improvements, the new Firefly AI studio introduces two key features designed to enhance design consistency and simplify project organization.

The first feature, “Elements,” enables you to save characters, locations, and objects you’ve created for reuse across Firefly and Firefly Boards. This means you can upload reference images of characters or settings, assign them names, and instruct Firefly to generate scenes like “Charlie’s bedroom” without needing to repeatedly type out detailed prompts and hope for consistent results. The second feature, “Projects,” consolidates your assets, generations, and creative context, making it easier to organize your work and pick up right where you left off.

The Firefly AI assistant, which launched in beta earlier this year, is also receiving new tools and features. It can now create brand kits, including logos and color palettes, based on your company name and style descriptions. Additionally, new video editing capabilities have been introduced, such as Quick Cut, which allows for the rapid assembly of clips into a polished first draft for further refinement—a feature that was added to the Firefly app in February. The assistant can also generate storyboards to visualize video projects and convert images into short-form video content, enabling you to transform image-based storyboards into videos as needed.

These conversational editing features are designed to help creatives eliminate some of the more tedious aspects of editing and design while maintaining creative control. You can initiate a project with the Firefly AI assistant and then make manual tweaks in Firefly or any of Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications. According to Adobe’s vice president of agentic AI for creativity and productivity, the goal is to position Firefly as “more of a co-working partner” rather than a tool that replaces most human work with simple prompts, depending on the user’s preferences.

“Does this all culminate with just people talking in English to the tools? I think for some users, absolutely. For other users, absolutely not,” Key explained. “Creativity has many paths, and the idea is that the agent can kind of meet those users however they want to work with the agent.”
