After three years, an Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has successfully built a Mario Party island.
A dedicated player has transformed their entire island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons into a stunning tribute to Mario Party 2, and the result is nothing short of amazing. This intricate creation features nods to three iconic boards from the game, along with several of its beloved minigames.
With the recent release of the 3.0 and Nintendo Switch 2 updates, many players have returned to New Horizons after a break. While the Mario-themed items used in this build were introduced in a 2021 update, the 3.0 patch made it easier for players to acquire these unique items without needing to link their Nintendo account.
The player shared their impressive work on Reddit, revealing that the entire project took about three years to complete. Drawing inspiration from their passion for Mario Party 2, they crafted three boards for exploration, based on Horror Land, Pirate Land, and Western Land. Additionally, the island boasts 17 minigame-themed areas, including Bowser’s Big Blast, Cake Factory, and Honeycomb Habit. For those interested in visiting, the Dream Address is available in their post.
After visiting the island myself through the Dream Address, I can confirm that it’s even more breathtaking in person. The attention to detail is remarkable, with custom-designed umbrellas in Horror Land resembling the rolling eyeballs from the game. The layouts of the board-themed areas are meticulously crafted to mirror the original Mario Party 2 boards, which explains the three years of effort put into this project. One of my favorite touches was an area featuring signs of Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Wario, complete with presents underneath—likely rewards for friends visiting to play, making this island an ideal spot for multiplayer fun.
