All the New Features in Cyberpunk 2077’s Edgerunners II 2.5 Update

Cyberpunk 2077 is gearing up for its 2.5 patch, and it seems CD Projekt Red just can’t resist adding fresh content to this six-year-old title. This update arrives right after the premiere of the new season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II on Netflix, and as hinted in earlier leaks, it will feature elements inspired by the anime series. The patch is set to launch on October 22, although the Switch 2 version may roll out later than on other platforms.

During a recent REDstreams broadcast, the studio shared details about the upcoming features, which you can check out below. For those who prefer a quick overview, here are the key highlights:

While keeping spoilers to a minimum, the developers confirmed a new quest that will serve as a prequel to the second season of Edgerunners. Expect to see characters from the show, voiced by the same actors from the anime.

As you cruise through Night City, you’ll soon be able to tune into an Edgerunners-themed radio station featuring tracks from both seasons of the series.

Mods are on their way to PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S through a partnership with mod.io. While there will be some limitations, players will be able to search for and download mods directly in-game. Just be cautious about installing too many at once, as it could lead to game instability.

On the technical side, the Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077 will receive some long-requested optimizations, while console versions will introduce field-of-view settings. Additionally, support for DLSS 4.5 is coming to enhance performance.

Another new quest will offer a guided “tour” of Night City, narrated by founder Richard Night, who may provide a somewhat biased perspective on the city’s history. CD Projekt Red describes this quest as “cozy,” focusing more on lore, though there’s an underlying mystery to unravel.

The update will also introduce dual-wielding as a new skill in the skill tree, allowing players to wield two pistols or revolvers in combat. This feature will come with its own perks, enabling a new playstyle, though shotguns and rifles won’t be included in the dual-wielding options.

As part of the dual-wielding update, new poses will be added to Photo Mode, allowing players to capture V in action with two guns.

Customization options for V’s cyberware are expanding, with 40 new looks available, each featuring various color and visual variants. Different glamdocs will provide unique customization choices.

Players can also expect new outfits, including some inspired by Edgerunners characters, similar to how the previous update allowed players to don David’s coat.

In addition to the existing Tarot cards scattered throughout the city, several new ones will be added for players to discover. CD Projekt Red is also releasing a physical set of Tarot cards based on the game’s artwork.

Furthermore, five clothing sets that were previously available through Twitch drops will now be included in the base game. New Twitch drops will also be introduced, featuring cosmetics for vehicles.

That wraps up the details for update 2.5. Will this be the final patch for the game? Only time will tell, as CD Projekt Red has a knack for surprising players with unexpected free content. Here are the full patch notes:
