Amazon announces lead cast for Fourth Wing TV series

The adaptation of *Fourth Wing*, the popular romantic fantasy series by Rebecca Yarros, is still in its early production phases. Fans have been eagerly anticipating updates, particularly regarding the casting choices. The wait is over, as Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya have been confirmed to play Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson, respectively.

The story unfolds from Violet’s perspective, immersing readers in the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College. She crosses paths with Xaden Riorson, whom she suspects wants her dead due to her mother’s past actions against his father. This sets the stage for a classic enemies-to-lovers narrative, culminating in their romance. Fans were particularly invested in the casting of these characters, given the significance of their relationship to the plot.

Esther McGregor (known for *Babygirl* and *We Were Liars*) will portray Violet, while Emilio Sakraya (from *Warrior Nun*) takes on the role of Xaden. The casting choices seem spot-on, and once the actors don their hair and makeup along with their flight leathers, they should embody the essence of petite Violet and her shadow-wielding counterpart perfectly.

However, there are a couple of concerns regarding this casting. In the book, there is a height difference of over a foot between Violet and Xaden, while the actors only differ by 4.7 inches. Additionally, Sakraya is 30 years old, whereas Xaden is depicted as being in his early twenties; this could become an issue if the series is renewed and there’s a significant gap between seasons.

While it’s exciting to finally know who will bring these pivotal characters to life, many other cast members remain unannounced. The first book features several key figures, including Dain Aetos, Rhiannon Matthias, and Liam Mairi. Fans are hopeful that more casting news will be revealed soon.
