Amazon Luna Discontinues Third-Party Game Sales
Amazon Luna has announced a significant shift that will impact how players access games on the platform. Starting June 10, 2026, users will no longer be able to purchase third-party games or subscriptions, and any previously bought titles will be removed from the service. However, players can still access these games through their EA, GOG, or Ubisoft accounts on other platforms.
As part of this transition, Amazon Luna will discontinue support for third-party stores from EA, Ubisoft, and GOG. Subscriptions to Ubisoft Plus and Jackbox Games will also be terminated, with active subscriptions set to cancel at the end of their current billing cycles. Additionally, the “Bring Your Own Library” feature will be eliminated, meaning players will lose access to third-party titles on Luna after June 3rd. Importantly, Amazon has stated that it will not provide refunds for any third-party games purchased through the service.
Launched in 2020, Amazon Luna aimed to compete with Xbox Cloud Gaming and the now-defunct Google Stadia, allowing users to stream a variety of games on their desktops, mobile devices, or smart TVs. In 2023, the platform introduced the option to buy individual games and expanded its offerings in the party game genre.
This latest update means that players will be limited to the games included in their Amazon Luna subscription. The Luna Standard plan, available with a $14.99 Amazon Prime subscription, features titles like EA Sports FC 26, Hogwarts Legacy, Skyrim, and Death Stranding. Meanwhile, the $9.99 per month Luna Premium plan boasts a larger library, including games like Alien: Isolation, Borderlands 3, and Sonic Frontiers.
A spokesperson for Amazon Luna stated that the service is “transitioning away from certain subscription, game store, and a-la-carte purchasing models in favor of approaches we believe work better for our customers long term.” They also emphasized that Amazon will continue to invest in a diverse range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles available through the Luna subscription.
