Amazon Prime Video Introduces AI Technology for Lip-Syncing Dubbed Audio
Prime Video is rolling out an exciting new AI-driven feature that syncs an actor’s mouth movements with “human-dubbed” audio. Currently, this feature is exclusive to the English dub of the German series Maxton Hall, but there are plans to extend it to more titles in the future.
According to Prime Video, this technology combines AI with visual effects to ensure that lip movements align perfectly with translated dialogue. Recently, other platforms have introduced similar AI-powered auto-dubbing tools for creators, allowing them to enable a “lip sync” option that makes it appear as though they are speaking in the viewer’s chosen language.
Last year, Prime Video began testing “AI-aided” dubbing in English and Spanish across a dozen films and series, including titles like El Cid: La Leyenda, Mi Mamá Lora, and Long Lost. The lip-sync dubbing feature is currently available for the first two seasons of Maxton Hall for subscribers worldwide, with the third season set to debut on December 9th.
