Amazon’s Echo Hub Unveils Customizable Design and New AI Features from Ring
Amazon is rolling out a free software update for Echo Hub devices, bringing a fresh look to the homescreen that enhances the original interface from 2024. While Alex Plus AI support was previously added, this new design features a sleeker, fully customizable layout that displays more smart home information and controls than before.
Additionally, the Echo Hub will now support Ring AI’s Video Search feature, allowing users to search through smart home camera footage using natural language, along with Alexa Plus summaries of detected camera events.
Here are five standout features highlighted for the Echo Hub:
> **Organize by room** – Customize your dashboard by room or function (e.g., “Bedroom,” “Downstairs,” “Climate”). Use the bottom bar to navigate to existing groups, select one, and long press to edit. You can add or remove devices, reorder them by dragging, and control all devices in a group with a single tap.
> **Create groups** – Tap the “Add group” button on the bottom bar, choose a name, and add devices to your new group. This group will be accessible via voice control and the app.
> **Arrange and resize sections and tiles** – Easily add, remove, and rearrange sections with simple drag-and-drop actions, allowing you to create a layout that suits your smart home usage. You can also resize device tiles to make frequently used ones larger.
> **Access granular device settings** – Tap the three dots on any connected device for more detailed controls. For example, tapping on your lights allows for precise dimming (0-100%) and color adjustments, or you can use the color wheel on compatible bulbs to choose from a variety of colors. The power button on each tile provides instant on/off control.
> **Quick access to common Routines** – Access your most frequently used Routines directly from the homescreen through the automations section or tab, triggering them with just a single tap.
