Amazon’s latest Fire TV Stick 4K now draws power directly from your TV.

The latest Fire TV Stick 4K is designed for a smoother setup experience compared to its predecessors, as it eliminates the need for a separate power adapter. You can now power it directly through your TV’s USB port, similar to the updated entry-level Fire TV Stick released earlier this year. Priced at $59.99 and available now, the Fire TV Stick 4K operates on Amazon’s updated TV OS and features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and Bluetooth Low Energy.

Amazon is also streamlining its streaming stick offerings, reducing the lineup to four devices: the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube. The new Fire TV Stick 4K takes the place of the previous “Select” and “Plus” 4K streaming sticks.

A revamped Fire TV Remote is launching alongside the new stick, showcasing a fresh asymmetrical design and enhanced tactile controls. This new remote is compatible with all Amazon Ember TVs and Fire TV devices from 2019 onward. It will be sold separately for $14.99 and is set to ship in late October. Additionally, a “Plus” version of the remote is expected to debut early next year, featuring an aluminum build, backlit buttons, and a “Find My Remote” function.

Fire TV will also receive several software updates, including the introduction of an Alexa Plus Hub and Alexa Plus integration within the Fire TV mobile app. Amazon states that its AI now incorporates real-world context, such as awards and events, allowing it to provide more nuanced recommendations for shows and movies. Furthermore, a new Fire TV app for Amazon Music is on the way this fall, complete with Alexa Plus integration for music and podcast suggestions.
