An Underrated Aliens Game is Set to Receive a Sequel Before Alien: Isolation 2
The first teaser for the sequel to Alien: Isolation certainly grabbed our attention last month, but there’s another game set in that iconic sci-fi universe making its debut even sooner. We’re talking about Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, a follow-up to the underrated co-op shooter that launched in 2021.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 was unveiled on May 7, showcasing a reveal trailer that primarily features cinematic action. It depicts a trio of marines battling a swarm of Xenomorphs that have overrun a space station, only to be joined by a fourth marine who jumps in to assist. The trailer also includes gameplay footage, confirming that this is yet another co-op third-person shooter, set to release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X sometime this summer.
I have a fondness for the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite, which came out in 2021. While Alien: Isolation captures the tense horror of the original film, Fireteam Elite embraces the over-the-top action of Aliens, and it does so with great success. The game features character classes and powerful weaponry that make taking down Xenomorphs a blast. It’s pure fun and feels like the Aliens version of Left 4 Dead.
This is why the sequel announcement is so thrilling for me, and I’m eager to dive into it before the sequel to Alien: Isolation arrives. A key new feature in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is the addition of a fourth squad member, enhancing the co-op experience even further. Other improvements include cross-play, a horde mode with dedicated maps, and a new character class called the Specialist.
If you’re looking to get a taste of Aliens: Fireteam Elite before the sequel drops this summer, it’s available through the Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate catalog on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, as well as on PS4 and PS5.
