Analogue 3D Revives Unreleased N64 Color Variants
The Analogue 3D, a high-end gaming console that fully supports Nintendo 64 titles, has just unveiled a fresh lineup of translucent colorways inspired by five prototype shades that were never released for the N64. These new Analogue 3D: Prototype Editions follow the limited launch of the Funtastic line, which mirrored the vibrant translucent shells of the N64 and sold out in under two hours last December.
This limited edition series features five striking colors: Ghost, a stunning sea glass; Glacier, a milky white; Atomic Purple, a rich plum; Extreme Green, a bright neon green; and Ocean, a deep cobalt.
“Five colors were officially prototyped for the original Nintendo 64,” the company states. “Unreleased. Until now. They were real. They were manufactured. They were never released.”
The announcement continues, “Analogue 3D: Prototype Editions finally bring these lost colors to life as limited editions. History, completed. Decades later.”
These unreleased N64 colors were uncovered in 2019 by Console Variations after a former Nintendo of Europe employee reached out to them. This piece of gaming history will be revived for those fortunate enough to snag one of the new consoles before they sell out.
The “highly limited” Analogue 3D: Prototype Edition consoles will go on sale on Monday, February 9, at 8 a.m. PST, with shipping occurring within 48 hours. The retail price is set at $299.99.
In collaboration with Analogue, 8BitDo is also launching a series of matching controllers for the new Prototype console line. These controllers will be available for preorder on February 9 at 8 a.m. PST, but will ship in April. They will be priced separately at $44.99.
Alongside the Analogue 3D, the company also offers the Analogue Pocket, a handheld device compatible with Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games (currently out of stock).
The Analogue 3D is also available in standard Black and White for $269.99, with matching 8BitDo controllers sold separately for $39.99.
