Analogue reintroduces its ideal SNES and Sega Genesis alternatives.
As retro hardware ages, diving into classic games can become a challenge for many gamers. To keep the spirit of retro gaming alive, Analogue has been delivering modern solutions that can run games from decades past. They made waves with the Super Nt and Mega Sg in 2017 and 2019, respectively, and now they’re back with upgraded versions: the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+.
Like their predecessors, the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ utilize FPGA technology to read retro cartridges and present 16-bit games in stunning high definition (up to 1080p) on widescreen displays. These enhanced systems come packed with even more features, including Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless support for controllers, USB-C power, and the convenience of swapping cartridges without needing to power down the console.
The Super Nt+ supports over 2,200 SNES and Super Famicom cartridges, along with the original controllers. Meanwhile, the Mega Sg+ can handle more than 2,180 cartridges from the Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mycard Adapter, and SG1000, as well as their respective wired controllers and the Sega CD.
Each console also includes two cartridge cleaners, with additional ones available for purchase, ensuring your classic cartridges are in top condition before you pop them into these new systems.
Both the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ are priced at $219.99 each, with pre-orders kicking off on Monday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. ET. Shipping is set to begin this December, so you might just snag one in time for the holidays. Note that controllers are not included with either console; you’ll need to use original controllers, find compatible wireless options, or buy the 8BitDo controllers separately from Analogue for $29.99.
A powerful console at less than half the price!
