There’s no denying that Andor is arguably one of the best entries in the Star Wars universe. However, being nearly perfect sometimes isn’t enough for fans, and a recent discussion on Reddit highlighted one of the most intense speeches in the galaxy far, far away.
For those unfamiliar, Fiona Shaw’s Maarva Andor delivered a powerful call to action that almost included one of the first F-bombs in Star Wars. Instead of telling the people of Ferrix to “Fight the Empire,” she recorded a version saying, “Fuck the Empire.” A fan expressed a wish for Disney to restore this original line, sparking a debate among fans.
“I don’t understand why some are fixated on this. ‘Fight the Empire’ works perfectly for me. The other phrasing just doesn’t resonate as much,” one fan commented. Another added, “‘Fight the Empire’ is a stronger call to action. It specifically urges resistance and rebellion. ‘Fuck the Empire’ feels more like a casual complaint rather than a rallying cry.”
Throughout the thread, fans discussed why avoiding the F-bomb was the better choice, suggesting that the outburst represented frustration rather than a genuine call to arms. “‘Fuck the Empire’ implies helplessness, like we’re just shouting into the void,” one fan explained. “‘Fight the Empire’ conveys a message of taking action.”
Fortunately, the absence of the explicit language didn’t diminish the impact of the scene, which remains a standout moment that can be forgiven. However, the incident with B2EMO? That’s a different story altogether.
