Apple TV Introduces Google Cast Streaming, Exclusively for Android Users

Android users can now enjoy Apple TV content on their TVs more easily with the introduction of Google Cast support. However, it’s important to note that this feature is currently available only on the Android version of the Apple TV app, leaving iOS users without this option. Additionally, the Android version still lacks AirPlay functionality.

The inclusion of Google Cast fills a significant gap that has existed in the Android version of Apple’s streaming app since its launch earlier this year. This update comes shortly after Netflix removed casting support from mobile devices to most smart TVs, pushing users to rely on the built-in apps of their displays.

If you don’t see the Google Cast option on your Android device, ensure that your Apple TV app is updated to version 2.2. You should find the cast button in the top right corner of your screen, right next to the mute button on the “play” screen for shows and movies, as well as in the pause overlay for currently playing content.
