Apple’s top spy thriller is set to return for its eighth season.

Slow Horses stands out as one of the most reliable series in the streaming landscape. While many popular shows take lengthy breaks between seasons, this acclaimed spy drama has consistently delivered at least one new batch of episodes each year since 2022. Continuing this trend, it has been confirmed that Slow Horses will return for an eighth season, with production set to kick off soon.

The upcoming season will draw from the ninth installment of Mick Herron’s Slough House series, titled Clown Town. This announcement follows the show’s recent Emmy victory, where Saul Metzstein won Best Director for a Drama Series for season 5, episode 6, “Scars.” The sixth season is scheduled to premiere on September 16, 2026, and will run until October 21, 2026. Season 7, which is based on Herron’s Bad Actors, was revealed last year.

Regarding season 8, it promises to showcase “Jackson Lamb and Diana Taverner in their most explosive confrontation yet,” according to the series summary. “When a botched attempt to blackmail the Park puts Taverner on the offensive, it falls to Lamb to uncover one of MI5’s darkest secrets and put an end to it once and for all.”

The series is described as a darkly comedic espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional group of British intelligence agents working in a less-than-glamorous department of MI5 known as Slough House. Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant yet irritable leader of the spies, who find themselves in Slough House due to career-ending blunders and often stumble through the complexities of the espionage world.

Oldman has garnered significant praise for his portrayal of Lamb, particularly for his unique ability to eat in the most unappealing ways imaginable. Each of the show’s five seasons boasts a Rotten Tomatoes score exceeding 95%, and the last three seasons have received nominations for Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmys.

Recently, the streaming service has been on a winning streak. Widow’s Bay took home an impressive 14 Emmys, marking a record for a comedy series. Additionally, it has been announced that Silo will return for its fourth and final season, airing less than a year after the conclusion of its third season. With a lineup that includes Pluribus, Severance, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Pachinko, and more, the platform has built an impressive catalog.

“We’re not deviating from the novels for the sake of it.”
