April’s PlayStation Plus Free Games Feature a Dark Souls-Inspired Title and Iconic Lara Croft Adventures
PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to a trio of free Essential games for April 2026: *Lords of the Fallen*, *Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered*, and *Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream*. These titles will be available for download starting Tuesday, April 7.
*Lords of the Fallen* is the 2023 action RPG from Hexworks, distinct from the 2014 title of the same name. Players take on the role of a Dark Crusader, navigating the realms of the living and the dead to confront Adyr, a tyrant wreaking havoc on humanity. Our review noted that while the game is meticulously designed in terms of pacing and challenge, it can feel overly restrictive at times. This title will be available on PlayStation 5.
*Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered* compiles Lara Croft’s first three adventures into a stunning collection. Our review praised the remastering work by Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics, highlighting enhanced visuals, optional modern controls, and the classic level designs that fans love. This collection will be available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
*Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream* is the newest addition to the Sword Art Online series, developed by Dimps Corporation. This multiplayer action RPG features 21 playable characters from various arcs of the franchise, allowing players to team up online to tackle formidable bosses. It will be available on PS5.
The PS Plus Essential games for April 2026 will remain available for download until May 4.
Subscribers can also grab March 2026’s Essential titles—*PGA Tour 2K25*, *Monster Hunter Rise*, *Slime Rancher 2*, and *The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road*—until April 6.
PlayStation Plus Essential is the entry-level tier of Sony’s subscription service, providing online multiplayer access, a monthly selection of free PS4 and PS5 games, cloud storage, and discounts on PlayStation Store purchases. The subscription costs $79.99 annually, $24.99 for three months, or $9.99 monthly.
